Last day 😞

Today marks the last day of summer!  I report back to work tomorrow and I'm not mentally prepared. The hard part about my job is that once I start thinking about it my brain just starts and sleep is hard to come by, whether it be new ideas, things to remember, or that nightmare of the first day of school when nothing goes right.  I'm teaching sixth grade again and not much is different.  I'm trying to revamp PE just in case I decide to try and make the switch next year to full time PE teacher...

We FINALLY made it to the beach last week and I'm so glad that we did.  Debbie came with me as there is no way I could do that trip by myself!  I knew the big kids love the beach, both the sand and the water.  Johnny had not gone in a year and was a bit timid of the water but once I took him in, we did not get out!  He loved the water at his stomach/chest and every once in a while I took him in to drink water and eat.  We will get one more trip in for Landon's birthday on Sunday!

The big kids started soccer a couple of weeks ago and have their first game this weekend.  Logan loves being active and trying to get the ball and he wants to score a goal!  He was bummed that there are no goalies at this age group.  It also helps that he knows a couple of boys on the team.  Annie does not enjoy all the running, especially during the heat wave we have had.  She gets easily frustrated if she doesn't get the ball or it gets taken from her.  She's a bit of a perfectionist, which hopefully will drive her to try harder - just not sure she's there yet.  I hope to get some good photos this weekend of them playing.  Poor Johnny just wants to be out there with him and I have taken him on walks with me during practice because all he wants to do is play with the kids.

We have decided to not start the kids in kinder, possibly they will do early start kinder come January. It's scary as a parent to make some choices for your children, but I'm confident that this will benefit them.  Johnny has also joined the kids at preschool.  He will go 3 days a week this year.  He loves going and playing with all the kids.  He walks right in, kisses me goodbye and is off.  He is the cutest when I pick him up, he gets his lunchbox, says bye to his teachers and friends and walks out the door.

My goal was to potty train Johnny this summer, ha!  He is going on the potty and will tell you if he went pee/poop in his diaper.  So, I either put him on the potty every 30 minutes and we are good or just let him wear a diaper and keep talking about it...  Preschool really helps with this as everyone is using the potty there, hoping lupe has the energy to keep it going at her house.  Can't wait to be out of diapers!

We went on our yearly August visit to Yuma for Oma's birthday.  We took off last minute and only stayed for the day, but it was a great visit.  The kids had cousins to play with and of course uncle Jason and Lis to climb on.  The temp was well over 110 and the pool was 92.  Not quite refreshing, but nice.

Here's to another great school year!
