Summer is Officially Over :(

Today marks my first official day back at work and it is a fun one filled with meetings.  I am back at RE in 6th grade and am very happy I decided to return but sad to be working.  I just feel like my summer was eaten up by house hunting, packing, moving and such.  We have basically everything moved over to the new house just a few minor things left in the garage and out back.  Robert and I spent two nights there and then Robert spent last night by himself - he was lonely in that big house on the hill.  We are still working on getting a new water line to the house so life isn't exactly comfortable there.  Robert has been working his butt off digging new line.  We had a lot of other projects that we wanted to do right off the bat, but those have been put on the back burner!  The kids and I have been sleeping at my parents and it hasn't been the best of sleep - I also think being 8 months pregnant isn't helping.  We are going to try and sleep at the new house tonight and see how the kids do in their big beds! 

Highlights of the Summer
1) Annie is swimming!  Scares the crap out of me, but she can do it.  She holds her breath for so long and just keeps swimming.  She also got over her fear of jumping off the side of the pool, although she likes to jump with someone else.
2) Logan loves the pool as well and has mastered jumping in and is now starting canon balls and watching his cousins dive so he tries to do that off of the steps (mom won't let him try off the side of the pool).  He finally let me take his floaties off in the pool yesterday and he did okay swimming to me and then crab walking the side of the pool back to the steps.
3) We made it to the beach, maybe twice - eek.  I wanted to go more often but a little boy in a cast couldn't go for almost 3 weeks.  They love the beach and they are easy right now to watch.  They like digging in the sand and jumping in the small waves.  I can just park myself at the edge of the water with them and they could play all day long.
4) The kids got a chance to go to Knotts Berry Farm and from the pictures and stories they had a blast.  Logan was of course a bit apprehensive at first (like he is with most things in life) but loved going on the rides.
5) The kids love their baby brother already - they will hug and kiss my belly, say goodbye and goodnight and when I do my kick counts for the night they always want to participate.  Annie gets very excited when she can feel him move or a limb sticking out. 
6) Actually buying a new house!  Holy crap, still can't believe that it happened - maybe once we actually fully move in it will hit me.  Robert and I are very excited to make the house into our home and raise our kids there.
7) Pretty sure we have a day for the new baby to arrive - October 7th.  Going to schedule my repeat c-sec today.  It is a whopping 6 weeks away!
8) Watching my two kids interact and become very close.  They will often go off and play together, they miss each other, they love on each other and of course they have their fair share of arguments and get annoyed with each other but their bond is pretty amazing. 

The cast is off!!!

Logan got his cast off yesterday morning.  He was so excited to be able to walk, run, jump and splash in the pool.  The doctor said to try to keep him from being too crazy for the next couple of weeks. Cory and I took the kids to the animal park because I knew that Logan would want to have some freedom with his leg.  He is going to be stiff for a few days and had a hard time yesterday, but he is getting better.  Below is him getting ready to jump off a step at the park.

 They have a virtual talking zebra named Robert and it talks with the kids and answers questions.  Logan couldn't wait to see the zebra again on the way out of the park.  It is amazing how soft these kids talk to the zebra, yet he can still hear him and will talk back.  

Animal Park

We finally made it to the animal park this summer, as I was driving I was thinking to myself - why have I not gone yet.  It is a quick 15 minute drive and the kids are old enough to really enjoy all the animals and sites.  My friend Debbie rode down with us and is always a big help with the kids plus we met my friend Kristy and her three kiddos.  It was a great day, not too hot and we had shade for the majority of it.  The kids did a lot of walking, but we made Logan get in the stroller for the hills - he just took too long.  The kids were exhausted and took a great 2 1/2 hour nap when we got home.  I did a good job of taking pictures when we got there and then just forgot.

Where to start...

 We started out with a splint from ER, it only went to the knee but we were given strict instructions to not let him walk on his leg.  I was just envisioning the rest of my summer carrying around Logan, Annie complaining that I am not carrying her and being big and pregnant.  Luckily it wasn't for too long...

because the next day, he got this :)

 

The birthday kids with birthday pancakes!  They were so excited to have whipped cream on their pancakes!!!  We celebrated the morning of with Guadalupe and her family.  The kids had not seen her for a month since school got out.  

After breakfast, Logan and I headed down to the doctor.  He is so shy when meeting new people and wouldn't talk to any of the doctors that asked him questions.  Then, if he did warm up to them he basically said no to any and all questions.  He freaked out while getting his cast.  He would calm down and then he would get a little wet and he would start up again.  I think this next picture sums it up.

 Birthday cupcakes on their birthday!  Neither of them finished their cupcake.  They were super excited to have the birthday song sang to them and to blow out the candle.

 We were lucky that Daddy had the day off the next day, so we went with friends to the Zoo.  Robert carried Logan a lot and we had to make him sit in the stroller.  He just wanted to walk the entire time.

 My sister and cousin insisted on throwing me a shower.  I told them I didn't need one and that everyone was so generous when I had the twins, but they wouldn't let me get out of it.  Well, it was a beautiful day and a wonderful gathering.  Again, everyone was so sweet and gave gifts of diapers, wipes and so much more.  I am so blessed to be in such a loving and giving family.

 The kids were very eager to help open the presents for Baby Johnny.  I had to slow Annie down to try and figure out where she was grabbing from.

 To top off the morning, Cory got a very yummy cake.  Robert claims it is the best ice cream cake he has ever tasted.  Thank you Cory and Christie for such a sweet party.  

In other news, holy cow - Robert and I are closing escrow on our new house this week!  I am still in disbelief that it is actually all happening.  We have been talking about getting a bigger house with more land and without neighbors right next door.  I am going to try to do a good job of taking before and after pictures and we have a lot of work to do outside of the house in terms of yard work and such.  The inside isn't too bad, just some work on minor things and the kitchen.  If we only had the funds we would rip out the kitchen right off the bat and re-do the whole thing.  We are going bare minimum and will start saving to do some of the bigger projects around the house.  So my life is - move into a house, clean out the old one for renters, start school, have a baby...  Not much of a to do list!!! HA
