I want to get this down before my sleep deprived self forgets.
Pregnancy differences -I definitely did not get as large so I was able to breathe, bend over, put on shoes and take the emergency break on my car off just fine. I didn't nearly have all the aches and pains this time because I only had one baby. I was able to exercise more when pregnant with the twins because I didn't have to take care of anyone. With the twins I ate all the time and had no morning sickness, this time I had some ickyness but nothing major. I gained 7 pounds more with the twins.
Recovery - was difficult with the twins from what I remember, I had zero stomach muscles left after being stretched out and getting out of bed was difficult for weeks! This time I maintained some strength in my abs and am able to sit up with a baby in my arms. I was really worried about my big kids and them climbuing on me or insisting on being held, but they were great and Robert helped out a lot the first two weeks. I feel swollen for longer this time, but again I really don't remember from last time. I felt like the weight just fell off last time and this time I am going to have to put in some real effort by exercising and watching what I eat ( just in time for holiday season).
Infant stage - biggest difference is not having to make two babies be on the same schedule no matter what! Making them eat and sleep at the same time in the early stages was difficult but necessary. Night time was the worst because Logan wanted to stay awake after what I considered the last feeding before bed and then a little later I would have to wake one baby to eat in the middle of the night because there was no way I was going to feed one baby and the wake up 30 minutes or so later to feed the other baby. Johnathan is able to feed on demand no matter what and has already blessed me with a couple 4-5 hour stretches of sleep at night. The other major difference is breast feeding, with the twins there was set up and in order to tandem feed I had to be at home sitting on the couch. All outings from the house were timed so we could be back in time to feed. It was a pain to feed one at a time when we were out and about because it took so long and the they weren't on the same schedule. I am figuring out how to nurse while making food, shopping, hanging out at the park, etc. I started to only nurse on the couch, but I don't have to this time, I am also able to do night time feelings in bed! Johnathan is also spoiled because his needs are met pretty much right away because I can, there are no other babies that need me, two big kids, but most things they can do on their own. Can't wait for the day when they can make their own bowl of cereal without making too much of a mess.
